Casting: silicone,wax,plaster,jelly,chocolate,ice......?

I have finally got to complete my silicone mould of my electrical insulator. Im looking forward to casting lots of 3D insulators now in different mediums! I really want to make multiples out of plaster as it only takes 20mins to dry so they'll take no time to make! Thats what i'm concentrating on now!

Dress inspiration!

David Koma is one of my favourite designers! hes so innovative and quirky but he still makes closes that flatter! im in love with the full skirts!

Mark Fast is also a designer that i love. his knit work is so intricate an beautiful!

Also the pattern work of Mary Katrantzou is AMAZING. shes so inovative and creative!

I could go on but i think thats enough inspiration for now!

Snow, silicone and bleach!

This week has been difficult to get much done. the snow is crazy in dublin! :O
I finally got to cast! i did the first half of the mould with silicone and im doing the second half on monday! the cast is of an insulator from the top of electricity poles that I made out of clay. I was also thinking of a way i could make 3D more interesting and still relevant to my project. I realised that fashion is a 3D medium! So now my current focus is on making a dress made from fabric that i have bleached a design into. Im excited to see how it will turn out!

12 Week Main Project

One of my favourite poets is T.S Eliot. He has a poem called "preludes" which explains the sinister and depressing side of urban life. I found this interesting so I have decided to base my project around the ideas evoked from this poem.
Heres a paragraph from the poem...

The morning comes to consciousness
Of faint stale smells of beer
From the sawdust-trampled street
With all its muddy feet that press
To early coffee-stands.

With the other masquerades
That times resumes,
One thinks of all the hands
That are raising dingy shades
In a thousand furnished rooms.
